GALVESTON FENCING UPDATES
Beginners' Foil Class - New Session May 11th
The next session of the Galveston Fencing Club's beginners' foil classes will start Monday, May 11 at 7 PM in the gym at Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church. The fee is $25.00 for a session of 5 Monday evening classes. These classes are free to dues-paid members of the club. More information and class syllabus can be found on the "Classes" page of this website.

The Jean Laffite Classic.
The 3rd annual Jean Laffite Classic fencing tournament was held Saturday, April 25 in the gym at Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church. There 31 competitors in mixed foil, 7 in mixed sabre and 18 in mixed epee. Competitors came from Beaumont, College Station, Lake Jackson and the Houston area, representing ten different fencing organizations. Here are the medalists:
Mixed Foil
1st Place: Bryndon Adams - South Houston High School Fencing Team
2nd Place: Daniel Pepin - Bayou City Fencing Academy
3rd Place (Tie): Trey Cole - Clear Lake Fencing Club
3rd Place (Tie): Phil Whisnant - University of St. Thomas Fencing Club
Mixed Epee
1st Place: John Willcutt - Katy Blades
2nd Place: Ryan Leigon - Brazosport Fencing Extravaganza
3rd Place (Tie): Jose Aguilar - South Houston High School Fencing Team
3rd Place (Tie): Travis Hinton - Texas A&M University Fencing Club
MIxed Sabre
1st Place: Paden Hilborn - Clear Lake Fencing Club
2nd Place: Samuel Sypien - South Houston High School Fencing Team
3rd Place (Tie): Jorge Novo - University of St. Thomas Fencing Club
3rd Place (Tie): Ryan Amos - Salle Mauro
